Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been in therapeutic use for thousands of years. The term “Anatomical” acupuncture refers to a more modern approach taken by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada (AFCI) utilized to teach western trained practitioners selected points. This enables physiotherapists to effectively incorporate selected acupuncture points as treatment within their scope of practise. In our caseload acupuncture has been shown to be a valuable tool in normalizing the body’s pain system and promoting local reduction of inflammation and tissue healing. It can be included as a treatment choice for a wide array of conditions such as sciatica, spinal pain, osteoarthritis, headaches and musculoskeletal sprains.

The Centre for Manual Physiotherapy is pleased to offer acupuncture from certified practitioners as an adjunct to our manual therapy skills.

**Note: Receipts demonstrate to extended health care insurance companies that acupuncture has been implemented in your treatment at our clinic.
